Kathmandu, Jan 14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said all should take the path of study and exploration by taking inspiration from the ancestors.

In his message on the occasion of the 10th National Yoga Day today, he urged one and all to adopt the way of study, research and exploration that produces knowledge while taking pride in our forefathers and the nature.
“The ancestors should be respected earnestly bowing the head. We should learn from their ideals and make efforts to follow the path of study, research and exploration to produce the kind of knowledge they generated. Initiatives should be made to internalize that in life. May the Yoga Day teach us to be proud of our nation, ancestors, nature, this region and inspire us all to move ahead,” PM Oli said in his message of best wishes on the occasion.

Prime Minister Oli said that the 10th National Yoga Day is being observed today around the slogan- ‘Yoga for Healthy Society, Prosperous Nepal and World Peace’.

The PM’s message reads: “Yoga proves that the products of this land, the ancestors, who invented mathematics, Ayurveda, space or health sciences, were extraordinary. The importance of yoga has manifested more intensively and the most important thing of humans is to stay healthy and to stay physically and mentally healthy, yoga is very useful. For the rigorous practitioners, spiritual practice and long meditation can be necessary.”

According to him, humans are for building a humane world, and the world means the Earth and human society. He added that this place can be called the ‘Adi Yoga Bhoomi’ or ‘the land of ancient yoga practice’, where there was a balance between nature and human society.

“Adiyoga Guru, Adiyogi Shiva i.e. Shambhunath started from this land thousands of years ago the practice of yoga, the contemplation of yoga and the philosophy of yoga i.e. all the subjects related to life and the relationship between life and nature. Therefore, we consider Shiva to be adiyogi. Yoga started with Adiyogi Shiva. Yoga is not limited to any religion, caste or particular geography or to any political ideology. It is a genre created and dedicated to the welfare of the entire Human race that started in a very scientific manner,” the PM stated in his message.

Noting that yoga was a bit relegated to the back burner and various types of illusions, confusions about it were also created, PM Oli said that now yoga needs to be free from illusions, completely dedicated and comprehensive for human welfare. “It is necessary to be comprehensive, human society-wide, we are engaged in this effort.”

The Prime Minister said that the United Nations, in 2014, declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, whose history is related to our land 15,000 years ago. “It is related to the sage Kapilmuni of Kapilvastu and Siddhartha Gautam who later became the Buddha.”
