Kathmandu, Feb 21: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has said that devotees visiting the Pashupati area on the occasion of the Mahashivaratri festival will be provided with maximum facilities.

The Culture Minister said this while talking to media persons after observing this morning the ongoing preparations at the Pashupati area in view of the Mahashivaratri festival on February 26. He said works are being carried out to provide maximum facilities to the devotees from various places of the world coming to the Pashupatinath Temple for worship on the occasion of the Mahashivaratri festival.

Minister Pandey, who is also the Chairperson of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Board, said coordination is being established with the bodies concerned for the prompt management of the task of installing the water supply pipelines that is ongoing at various locations of the Pashupati area as this could create inconvenience to the devotees visiting the area on Mahashivaratri.

He also stressed on the need of cooperation from the governmental entities as well as various social organisations and individuals in connection with the preparation for Mahashivaratri festival.

On the occasion, Minister Pandey observed the preparation going on at various locations in Pashupati area including at Bankali, Bhuwaneshwari, Ghat area, Ram temple, Mrigasthali, Bishwaroop, in connection to the Mahashivaratri festival.

On the occasion, Member-Secretary of PADT Dr Milan Kumar Thapa, Treasurer Narayan Prasad Subedi and members of the PADT Board briefed Minister Pandey on the ongoing preparations for the Mahashivaratri festival.

A 201-member Main Celebration Committee has been formed under Minister Pandey’s chairmanship for the preparation for Mahashivaratri festival. Nine various thematic sub-committees have also been constituted for this purpose.
