Kathmandu, March 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has underlined the need of further expanding and strengthening air services.

In his replies to queries from lawmakers in a House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, the Prime Minister the government is working to make the country’s air services prompt and reliable.
Efforts are on to improve the efficiency in the management of the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation, he said, adding that the restructuring of the Nepal Tourism Board has been carried out and the Nepali embassies, diplomatic missions, tourism ambassadors, Non Resident Nepali Association, Nepali students aboard and various organisations at home and abroad have been mobilised for the promotion of tourism sector.

The promotional initiatives by the Nepal Tourism Board and other organisations are being undertaken to encourage the tourist arrivals from neighbouring countries. The Federal Parliament is preparing for presenting the Bill to revise and integrate tourism-related existing laws in the current session. “The Mountaineering Expedition Regulation has been revised,” he said.

Replying another query, the Prime Minister said the Sunsari Morang Irrigation Project has constructed a side intake near Chatatara of Koshi River and provided the irrigation facilities.

In his address to a query from Manish Jha, he said incumbent government has dismantled ‘wrong’ practices in the transfer, promotion and appointment of official posts and the recent appointment of the Nepal Police Chief is the testament towards that end.

He added that the construction of the Butwal-Narayangadh road section has resumed and sped up. The government received internal and external debt to implement projects in productive and development sectors.

Through an ordinance the government has revised the Act to promote an atmosphere conducive for industrial and enterprise development, according to the Prime Minister.
