Kathmandu – The third cohort of fellows from Australia’s Subnational Governance Program (SNGP) has successfully completed its 12-month fellowship program, marking another milestone in the initiative’s mission to strengthen local governance.
Launched in 2021 in collaboration with The Asia Foundation, the SNGP program is designed to equip fellows with practical knowledge of local government operations, leadership, and community engagement.
Each year, the program empowers young women from marginalized communities by providing hands-on experience in local governance. Fellows work across seven partner municipalities in Nepal—Damak, Mithila, Bhimeshwar, Waling, Tansen, Birendranagar, and Tikapur—gaining invaluable insights into municipal administration and civic leadership.
Australia remains committed to fostering inclusive governance and leadership opportunities, ensuring that aspiring women leaders have the skills and experience to drive positive change in their communities.
