Two killed, three injured in separate road accidents

Itahari (Sunsari), April 20: One person was killed and three others were injured in a road accident that took place in the Charkose forest between Dharan and Itahari. The accident involving a car (Ba Pra 01-030Cha 4618) heading towards Itahari to Dharan took place when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed, said District Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Yograj Khatiwada.

In the accident that took place on Saturday night, four people including the driver of the car were injured. One of the passengers, Bishnu Raut, 40, of Itahari-1, who was seriously injured in the accident, died during treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

The car driver Bibek Lama, 30, of Ramdhuni Municipality-7, Sunsari, Ganga Basnet, 43, of Itahari-4, and Kalyan Katwal, 31, of Itahari-1 were injured. The driver and Basnet are in normal condition but Katwal has been referred to Birat Medical College in Biratnagar for further treatment.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Surkhet, a pedestrian died after being hit by a police vehicle this morning.

Kali Bahadur Budha, 55, of Hima Rural Municipality-4, Jumla, died after being hit by a police vehicle (Ka Pra 01-001 Kha 0915), said Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Bir Bishwakarma, Chief of the District Police Office, Surkhet. Budha died while undergoing treatment at the local hospital. He had suffered serious head injuries in the incident.
