Kathmandu, July 18 – U.S. Ambassador to Nepal, Dean Thompson, attended the opening ceremony of the 45th Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) between the U.S. Armed Forces and the Nepali Army, held in Kathmandu this week.
The month-long training program, which runs from July 14 to August 15, is designed to strengthen life-saving techniques and technical skills critical for disaster response, peacekeeping operations, and crisis management. The JCET serves as a testament to the strong defense and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
“This program reflects our shared commitment to regional stability and disaster preparedness,” said Ambassador Thompson. “Through joint training and collaboration, we continue to deepen our partnership and enhance Nepal’s capabilities to respond to emergencies.”
The training marks another milestone in the 78-year-long diplomatic relationship between the United States and Nepal. Beyond emergency support, the United States remains dedicated to empowering Nepal through capacity building, knowledge exchange, and mutual resilience.
