Kathmandu, Nov 9: President Ramchandra Paudel formally launched the NTV World channel on the occasion of the first anniversary of the establishment of the Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) Nepal here today.
At a ceremony held today at PSB, Singha Durbar, inside the premises of Nepal Television, NTV World was launched as the English channel of Nepal Television. This channel will feature content that introduces Nepal to the international world.
At the programme, President Paudel also unveiled the PSB logo and mobile app. PSB Nepal was established by merging Nepal Television and Radio Nepal, and it celebrated its first anniversary.
The bill related to PSB was certified by President Paudel on October 8, 2024. In accordance with the provisions of the Act, the law came into effect on the 31st day after its certification, that is, on November 8, 2024.
With the implementation of this Act, Radio Nepal, established under the Radio Broadcasting Service Development (Committee) Formation Order, 2041, and Nepal Television, established under the Communication Institutions Act, 2028 were transformed into Public Service Broadcasting institution.
