Kathmandu, Nov 26: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, has said that the incumbent government is centred on raising hope among the people by guaranteeing good governance in the nation.

Addressing the Nepal Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, 2025 jointly organized by the National Youth Council and Nepal Business Institute here today, he said the dissatisfaction and anger that had accumulated among the people for long was vented out in the form of Gen Z movement. “The present situation is the result of failure to deliver in services, good governance and development. It appears ‘rotten’ down to the bottom until the political leadership is righteous,” Minister Ghising said.

He opined that although the old political parties and leaders were successful in political regime change in the country, they fell short of leading the prosperity after the political change. Minister Ghising argued that anachronistic laws have prevented fulfilling the people’s aspirations for prosperity, and the government to be formed after the election should reform such outdated Acts, laws and policies.

Stating that an election environment has descended upon the country, he urged one and all not to doubt whether the election will be held on the stipulated date. “All the political parties have registered themselves with the Election Commission. The election will be held on the stipulated date. The present time is for using conscience. Elect the leaders who can take the country in the right direction,” Minister Ghising said.

Vice President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Swarnim Wagle, maintained that dissatisfaction has been emerging in the country due to the inability to fulfill the people’s aspirations for economic prosperity, stressing on controlling corruption and upholding good governance are essential conditions. He stated that failure to protect domestic and foreign investment would deter investment in the country, noting that attacks on the private sector during the Gen Z movement made the investors hesitant.

Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Jyotsna Shrestha, said that young people should create jobs through new innovations rather than seeking employment. “The brain drain must be stopped, and the Federation is working to promote startups in collaboration with the government and educational institutions,” she said.

The Vice-Chairperson of the National Youth Council, Surendra Paudel, emphasised that youths who return from foreign employment with skills and capital should be connected with entrepreneurship in the country itself. The conference will feature collective discussions on promoting youth entrepreneurship, challenges, opportunities, and policy making.
