Kathmandu : The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has directed the complete closure of exam preparatory classes and bridge courses facilities that are run targeting students of various levels of higher education and are not conducted according to the existing laws.
According to a press statement issued by Shiva Kumar Sapkota, Spokesperson at the Ministry, on Monday, the instruction is issued based on the decision made by newly appointed Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel to close down various facilities run in the name of ‘bridge course’.
The Ministry has directed that the institutions running such programmes be fully shutdown effective from Baisakh 1, 2083 BS.
The Ministry has urged the concerned district administration offices to monitor whether such programmes are being conducted in accordance with the prescribed legal standards.
It has also asked the relevant administration offices to proceed with action according to prevailing law. The Ministry stated that such courses create negative impact on students’ psychology and equitable access to education. It further causes educational burden to students.
