Kathmandu, April 2: Opposition party lawmakers in the House of Representatives have expressed their commitment to present themselves responsibly to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them by their constituents.
In a conversation with RSS regarding the first session of the House of Representatives starting later today, they expressed the view that they will working to address issues of public concern, ensuring laws are formulated in the interest of the country and people.
CPN (UML) lawmaker Suhang Nembang said that this time in the House work should be done for the prosperity and welfare of the country and the people not with the spirit of the ruling party and the opposition. “We should support and criticize the government’s work based on its merits and demerits. We should be providing constructive advice and suggestions and not go by the trend of opposing everything that the government does, even if it is good.”
Likewise, Nepali Congress MP Bharat Khadka expressed the view that the Congress will present itself in the parliament in a mature and responsible manner as it is a party that upholds democratic values. “There have been some weaknesses in running the government and the party in the past, and on that basis, the voters have punished us to some extent this time, and that should be accepted.
Nepali Communist Party MP Yubaraj Dulal said that the issues of rule of law and good governance shall be raised with priority. “Relief for farmers, employment for youth in the country, strengthening the federal democratic republic, and constitutional amendments to reduce the number of provincial councils of ministers, fully proportional electoral system and an executive president will be raised with importance in the upcoming session.”
The first session of the House of Representatives after the election held on March 5 is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm later today.
