Rasuwa, May 24: A meeting has been held recently between Nepal and China as part of border coordination. The meeting held in the district headquarters, Dhunche, focused the issues like border security, facilitation of trade and curbing crimes.
Chief District Officer Rajesh Panthi led the Nepali delegation while Station Master of Jilong Immigration Inspection Station of China, Zhu Jishui, led the Chinese side. The meeting was for enhancing mutual cooperation and trust, reinforcing enduring friendship between the two countries.
The Nepali delegation sought assistance for its citizens especially in the border so that their trades, mobility and daily life would be eased. Even the issues of safety and health were raised during the meeting. The Chinese side was positive to this regard.
The discussants concurred with the need for enhancing the vigilance and coordination between their security agencies to cope with illegal transactions across the border.
Both sides held positive discussion on allowing the drivers even from outside Rasuwa district to enter Kerung after meeting the criteria. The Nepali traders took it positively once the Chinese side signaled gradual easing of mobility to the drivers bearing passport and having good conduct.
A social worker here, Milan Tamang, observed that the border meeting ignited hope of enhanced business atmosphere in Rasuwa and strengthening of bilateral relations.
