Kathmandu, The National Security Guard (NSG) “Black Cats” Everest Expedition 2026 successfully summited Mount Everest at 03:26 AM on 23 May 2026, marking a remarkable achievement in high-altitude mountaineering.

The 16-member expedition team, led by Lt. Col. Ram Chandra Thapa, with Major Akhilesh Bhatt serving as Climbing Leader and Mingma Thinduk Sherpa as Expedition Sirdar, completed the entire Everest mission in just 20 days from Kathmandu, an impressive feat considering the extreme conditions and logistical challenges of the world’s highest peak.
The expedition was professionally managed and coordinated under the leadership of Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Director of Seven Summit Treks , who personally oversaw this expedition from the beginning to ensure a safe and successful ascent.

The expedition was flagged off by NSG Director General Shri Brighu Srinivasan, IPS. The team also ran a medical camp at Base Camp and took part in garbage clean-up efforts. Our sincere appreciation to the team.

This expedition reflects the NSG’s ethos of “Sarvatra Sarvottam Suraksha”, pushing the limits of physical and mental endurance, in line with its mandate as India’s elite counter-terrorism and rapid-reaction force established in 1984. It also stands as a powerful symbol of courage, discipline, and the strong friendship between Nepal and India at the highest altitudes.
