Chitwan, June 21: Prime Minister and senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balendra Shah, has said that the current government is travelling in an ‘expressway’ and will stop only after reaching its destination.

Addressing the inaugural session of the first national general convention of the RSP here today, he said the government is like a train running on the ‘expressway’ and will apply its brake after reaching its destination. He was responding to comments made by some political party leaders that ‘applying accelerator only might lead to an accident’, in reference to the government’s actions.

Prime Minister Shah also urged political leaders to accept the current people’s mandate and not worry about the ideology of the RSP. “The RSP is a progressive party, it is a party that believes in work, not a party that seeks revenge, not a party that seeks to fight over stale matters.”

He said that the current government will act tough manner in cases of abuse and exploitation of state assets and funds. “The government does not violate the rules and regulations, it works within the rules, it does not go beyond the rules.”

On a different note, Prime Minister Shah clarified that Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh are Nepali territory and said that the government has proof that these territories belong to Nepal.

“We did not want to have the British as a mediator, but we tried to get help if there was any evidence in this regard during the British rule,” he said, “We will settle the border issues by talking to our neighbors, we have evidence that our territory belongs to us. There is no need to doubt that.” He also clarified that no one should have habour any doubts about his nationality.

Meanwhile, appealing to the general convention delegates of the party, Senior leader Shah RSP will not give place to the practice of the conservative political parties of forming factions and sub-faction in the party’s general convention. “To become a good leader and politician, one must win the love of the people, not the backing of any faction. We must learn this from the old parties,” he said.

He clarified that the RSP is a new party and has moved forward with an innovative mindset. “We will solve the problems related to squatters and cooperative fraud in this term. We will not carry the same ‘agenda’ in the upcoming elections, we will be going with a new agenda,” the Prime Minister said.

The RSP senior leader also said that since it is now the RSP government, every minister, MP, office bearer, central member, cadre and the people are the Prime Minister. Emphasizing the need to unite the party, he said, “Let us think about the party today, tomorrow and the day after, and after that, lets think about the country for the next five years.”
