Mustang, July 10: Sixteen people including 10 Indian nationals died of high altitude sickness in Mustang district during the fiscal year 2082/83 BS. According to Province Hospital Jomsom, 10 Indians, five Nepalis and one Mexican lost their lives due to high altitude sickness during the period of the fiscal year 2082/83.
Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Samikshya Kandel, shared that one person died of high altitude sickness in the month of Bhadra, one in Asoj, three in Kartik, two in Mangsir, two in Chaitra and three others in Jestha. They were between 50 to 84 years of age, she added.
In the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, nine people including five Indians, three Nepalis and one American had lost their lives due to high altitude sickness. Physically disabled persons, senior citizens and patients with chronic diseases remain at high-risk of high-altitude sickness.
