Kathmandu, July 29: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has expressed sorrow over the incident in Sunsari, pledging justice for the bereaved family, compensation for those affected, and action to bring those responsible for the incident to justice.
Taking to social sites, he paid tribute to the person killed in the incident and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He said the government stands in deep solidarity with the affected families and reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for them.
According to the Prime Minister, the death and injuries of citizens from gunfire by security personnel are matters of serious concern, and an investigation has been initiated into it. He promised action against those found guilty in the incident in accordance with the law.
He said that the government is seriously reviewing the entire incident, and necessary decisions and corrective measures will be implemented to prevent such incidents from recurring.
The Prime Minister urged citizens to remain restrained, refrain from provocation, anger, and retaliation, and contribute to maintaining social harmony, mutual trust, and tolerance.
The Prime Minister said, “I once again appeal to you all to cast aside anger, fear, and resentment, even if such feelings exist. Refrain from participating in or encouraging any activity that incites violence or provocation. Let us live safely and with restraint. Let us love and respect each other. Let us maintain social harmony.”
Stating that the foremost duty of any human being is to save the lives of others, the Prime Minister said, “The government’s first responsibility is to ensure the safety of its citizens, take action against those responsible for unwanted moves, and provide justice and compensation to the victims. The government will ensure all this as soon as possible.”
