Kathmandu, Aug 11: The Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded the government that it increased the import of cooking gas and ensured smooth supply. The people in need deserve relief, for which systemic and convenient supply of the essential fuel is imperative, it added.
The meeting of the NC central committee held on Monday demanded the government to encourage the use of electricity and reduce dependency on gas. The consumers could be provided subsidies on electric devices like induction stoves and heater. A clear and long-term energy policy is essential to replace gas, according to the NC.
The meeting also stressed the need for providing chemical fertilizers to the farmers in subsidy and ending black marketing. The products of small and medium farmers should be provided a fair market with support price. It is time to seek a sustained solution to the suffering faced by farmers on border areas.
In the meeting chaired by party President Gagan Kumar Thapa, 22 central members put forth their views on Monday. The meeting is being held at the party’s central office at 11:30 am today, according to Acting Chief Secretary of the party, Krishna Prasad Dulal.
