Kathmandu, Aug 28: The Nepal Army (NA) rescued alive 350 workers and local people who were trapped inside a tunnel of the Upper Trishuli Hydropower Project on Thursday. They were trapped in the tunnel after a devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday morning.
The NA informed that its personnel worked untiringly for the rescue irrespective of adverse weather posing severe risk. The NA said it is still at work to safely evacuate over than 100 people who remain trapped inside the same tunnel.
A team under the command of military officer Bhaktajan Basnet from the Number 1 Second Movement Tactical Headquarters (Trishuli) has been deployed around the clock.
