Lalitpur, Aug 30: Nepali Congress has decided to contribute Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the August 26 Bhotekoshi flood survivors.
Spokesperson Devraj Chalise confirmed that the party has been decided to contribute Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters after a meeting held to discuss and assess the role of the party in the post-disaster initiative, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa said the government needs to be supported in disaster management, while pointing out the shortcomings, if any.
The government should pay attention to the nine-point memo that the NC submitted, he said while emphasizing on the need to fulfill the specific responsibilities of the federal government in disaster management. “Success however can only be achieved only through coordination between the three levels of government. The federal government should be able to divide the work between the three levels of government in disaster management.
Likewise, Congress parliamentary party leader, Bhishma Raj Angdambe, stressed that the government should focus on effective coordination and collaboration in rescue, relief and rehabilitation work, and fulfill its responsibility towards the citizens.
