Mustang, Sept 15: The ‘Gharapjhong Climate Conference -2026′ is beginning here today. Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Gita Chaudary, is scheduled to inaugurate the event.
As of Monday evening, representatives from 421 local levels and 36 district coordination committees arrived in Mustang.
Chief administrative officer of Gharapjhong Rural Municipality, Bhim Kumar Basnet, informed that over 2,000 guests had arrived from seven provinces. Accommodation for the participants is managed at local hotels.
Vice chair of Gharapjhong Rural Municipality, Jamuna Thakali, informed that youth clubs, mothers’ groups and other institutions were mobilized to facilitate the management of the conference.
All five wards of the local government are decorated with festoons of native cultural arts. Street lights are managed linking to the venue. Mobilization of health workers and volunteers is also in place.
Information officer at the rural municipality, Bijay Sanjyal, informed the conference to run for two days would be held at Jomsom Covered Hall. The management has assured no disruption of drinking water, internet and power supply.
Importantly, a picture of earth reflecting suffering of climate change is installed at the conference hall.
Over 50 stalls are set up to make adequate publicity of agricultural productions of Mustang, according to section officer Roshan Thakali.
The conference will issue a declaration upon the conclusion.
