Kathmandu : Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has informed Indian investors, industrialists and businesspersons that there are adequate opportunities for investment and trade in Nepal.
Dr Wagle’s secretariat shared information that the Minister, who is currently in India visit, requested the investors there to pour money in various sectors by utilizing the investment opportunities in Nepal.
Addressing a trade and investment event organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi on Saturday, Finance Minister Dr Wagle shed light on emerging investment opportunities and invited the Indian industrialists to participate in Nepal’s economic transformation.
Nepal offers significant investment potential in high-growth sectors, he reminded, urging the Indian companies already operating in Nepal to expand their investments. The new investors were urged to explore Nepali market.
Minister Wagle made aware the Indian investment community that Nepal was advancing an agenda centred on good governance, economic prosperity, investment facilitation and structural economic transformation. He further made it clear that the government was committed to speeding up policy reforms and creating a more predictable, transparent and investment-friendly business atmosphere.
He featured the sectors for investment such as information technology, clean energy, high-value agriculture, tourism and the manufacturing based on the concept of production partnerships. These areas are emerging as key drivers of Nepal’s economy, Dr Wagle added.
“We want Indian businesspersons to regard Nepal not merely as a market but as a strategic partner for investment, production, value addition and integration into regional and global supply chains,” Minister Dr Wagle emphasized.
Even the recent initiatives Nepal forwarded in legal and policy reforms for investment boost were shared on the occasion. The event participants were informed about the tax reforms and investor-friendly policy initiatives which are aimed at improving the business environment, removing investment barriers and facilitating private sector-led economic growth.
“The long-standing economic relationship between Nepal and India is a robust foundation for expanding bilateral trade and investment,” the Minister observed.
