Kathmandu, October 30 — The United States has provided additional DNA-testing supplies to Nepal Police to strengthen efforts to identify American citizens and other victims of the devastating floods that struck Nepal in August.

According to the US Embassy, FBI Assistant Law Enforcement Attaché Riley Palmertree received two shipments of DNA-testing supplies this week. The supplies, manufactured by US-based company Thermo Fisher Scientific, are part of a $1 million US contribution to support Nepal’s Rapid DNA systems.

The assistance aims to strengthen Nepal Police’s capacity to identify flood victims and provide answers to families anxiously awaiting information about their missing loved ones.

The United States has continued to support Nepal’s flood response and recovery efforts, providing more than $36 million in life-saving assistance and disaster recovery support.
The latest contribution highlights ongoing US cooperation with Nepal in disaster response, forensic identification and humanitarian assistance, particularly as authorities continue efforts to identify victims and support affected families.
