Kathmandu, October 30 — The United States has announced plans to provide more than $150 million worth of American-made helicopters, drones and riverboats to strengthen Nepal’s disaster preparedness, search and rescue operations, and emergency response capabilities.
According to the US Embassy in Nepal, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Megan Bouldin met with Nepali Army Chief of the Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel to discuss the longstanding US-Nepal partnership and ongoing American assistance to support Nepal’s recovery from the devastating August floods.
During the meeting, Bouldin expressed her deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster. She also conveyed her sympathies to the families of Nepali Army personnel who remain missing.

Bouldin highlighted the United States’ commitment to enhancing Nepal’s disaster-response capabilities through the provision of more than $150 million in American-made helicopters, drones and riverboats. Deliveries of the equipment are scheduled to begin next year.
The latest assistance will complement the $38 million worth of M28 Skytruck aircraft donated by the United States last fall. The aircraft have since supported disaster relief operations in Nepal.
Through advanced technology, equipment and technical expertise, the United States aims to help Nepal strengthen its search and rescue operations, medical evacuation services and emergency response systems.
The assistance underscores continued US-Nepal cooperation in disaster management and humanitarian response, with a focus on saving lives, improving preparedness and supporting communities affected by natural disasters.
