Kathmandu – It would be too early to forecast the election result in Bara-2. But, it is predictable that there is tough competition among the candidates. However, Upendra Yadav, president of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has been facing multiple challenges and chewing the ‘iron’ to lure the voters. Yadav seems a fragile candidate in Bara due to various consequences. Influence of CK Raut and Rabi Lamichanne, Yadav has to tough job winning the election.
What are the challenges he would face?
CK Raut
Janmat Party has emerged as a new power after the November 20 elections. Mouth publicity is more to CK Raut than Yadav. Raut, who considered Upendra Yadav as his rival, has seen himself strong after defeating the Yadav in Saptari-2. It is estimated that this effect can be seen in Bara-2 as well.
Non-cooperation within the coalition
The ruling alliance has agreed to make Yadav a common candidate. As a common candidate, Yadav is active in the election campaign. However, not only the Maoists and Congress in the alliance, but also the Unified Socialists have been expressing disagreement with the Yadav.
Vote against Yadav
Bara 2 is an area under the influence of the Yadav community. Ramsahay Yadav also had a strong influence in this area.
Dubbed as a ‘Tourist’ candidate
Not only Upendra Yadav has been dubbed as a ‘tourist’ candidate but also the defeated candidate. Yadav, who was defeated in Saptari-2 in November 20 election, locals have shown their dissatisfaction and frustration after he became the candidate in Bara-2. Yadav has failed to answer the public’s questions.
Popularity of Rabi Lamichhane
The popularity of Rabi Lamichanne is strong in Bara-2 like CK Raut. Kharel believes that the election can be won if the Ravi wave is added to revive the old influence.
