Bharatpur, June 24: Rabi Lamichhane has been elected unopposed as the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) during its first general convention, currently being held in Chitwan.

According to Bhuvan KC, Chief of the party’s Central Election Commission, Lamichhane was declared elected on Tuesday night after remaining the only candidate for the post of President.

With this, Lamichhane will continue to lead the party for a second consecutive term. The four-year-old party, founded in 2022, is holding its maiden general convention, with 3,849 representatives participating in the gathering. KC further informed that nominations for central committee posts are currently underway.

The nomination process continued until midnight on Tuesday, while voting for other leadership positions is set to begin today at 8:00am. Election officials estimate that it will take around eight hours for more than 4,500 eligible voters to complete the voting process.
