Kathmandu, Sept 20: Nepal’s diplomatic missions in different host countries marked the Constitution Day and National Day on Thursday by organizing different programmes.

The Constitution Day was marked in Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Cairo and Copenhagen, Nepal embassies in those countries stated by issuing separate press releases.

In Nepal’s Embassy of Abu Dhabi, known and unknown martyrs were paid tributes while marking the Constitution Day that witnessed the participation of Nepali diplomats, representatives of different organizations and Nepali migrant workers, among others.

On the occasion, Ambassador Tej Bahadur Chhetri said it was the responsibility of all to maintain lasting peace, development, prosperity and good-governance in the country by institutionalizing the federal democratic republic form of governance.

Likewise, the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing hoisted the national flag of Nepal at the Embassy premises amidst a ceremony on the occasion of the Constitution Day and National Day.

The Embassy also hosted a reception.

Director General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China attended the event as the Guest of Honor, according to the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing.

Surendra Kumar Yadav, Chargé d’affaires in the Embassy, highlighted the historical importance of the Constitution Day stating that the Constitution of Nepal embodies decades of peoples’ struggle for democracy and added that the constitution has institutionalized democracy and guaranteed equality and fairness.

Likewise, the Embassy of Nepal Cairo of Egypt marked Constitution Day at the presence of Ahmed Shaheen, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia-Pacific, Australia and New Zealand Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

On the occasion, Assistant Minister Ahmed Shaheen expressed confidence that cooperation on the areas of trade, tourism and education between Nepal and Egypt would further deepen in the days ahead.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Egypt Sushil Kumar Lamsal termed the Constitution of Nepal as a milestone in Nepal’s modern history.

During the event, Nepali students in Egypt performed cultural programmes too.

Likewise, photos of Pashupatinath Mandir taken last year’s Mahashivarati by renowned Egyptian photojournalist Yasser Alaa Mobarak were also put on display, the Embassy said.

Similarly, the Embassy of Nepal in Denmark hosted a reception to celebrate the National Day and Constitution Day on Thursday.

More than 100 guests were present on the occasion including the high-level officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Employment and Integration Mayor of the Copenhagen Municipality, Ambassadors, senior diplomats and others.

On the occasion, Chargé d’affaires of Nepal Embassy Sabitra Oli said the promulgation of the democratic and inclusive Constitution of Nepal has guaranteed the fundamental rights, freedom, justice and equality to all Nepali people.
