Kathmandu, March 1: The government has announced to keep safe to those Nepalis who are stranded in airports in the Middle East in the concerned countries.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held this evening decided to make arrangements to keep Nepalis safe where they are since their repatriation back home was not likely as all airports there have been closed for now, Foreign Minister Balananda Sharma said.

Likewise, the government has asked Nepal’s embassies in the Middle Eastern countries to remain on high alert and to regularly monitor the situation of the Nepali citizens in the context of the evolving situation in the Middle East.

Talking to the media after the cabinet meeting, Foreign Minister Sharma said, “The situation is not normal. For now, all airports are closed; no one can be repatriated. So, discussions have been initiated to keep them safe where they are. The inconvenience of the Nepali passengers in the transit countries has been discussed.”

Minister Sharma stated that efforts are being made to send Nepali citizens to their destinations and keep them in hotels adding that coordination is being made to take care of Nepali citizens by the employers or the concerned airline companies.
