Kathmandu : The second meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) held on Thursday late evening unanimously passed the government’s policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year, 2083/84.

The policies and programmes were endorsed after Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle furnished responses on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah to the queries raised by lawmakers.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal gave time to the lawmakers if they could seek additional clarifications from Finance Minister, but none did. The lawmakers did not utilize the time for clarification, for they were protesting with the demand of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s presence in parliament to get their queries responded. Some lawmakers of opposition parties exited the meeting hall.

Once the Speaker presented the proposals of various lawmakers for amendments to the policies and programmes, the proposals were rejected by majority of vote (voice). Thirty-five lawmakers from opposition parties had presented amendment proposals.

Although the Speaker informed the lawmakers if they could withdraw the amendment proposals, none did not, thereby getting rejected the proposal by majority of votes.

President Ramchandra Paudel had announced the government’s policies and programmes in the joint session of the federal parliaments on May 11.

The National Assembly also passed on the policies and programmes on Thursday itself.
