Kathmandu : The annual report of the Auditor General for the fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25) has been submitted to President Ramchandra Paudel.
Auditor General Toyam Raya presented the report to the President at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
On the occasion, President Paudel expressed concern over the increasing arrears and stressed the need for public bodies to maintain accountability, transparency and fiscal discipline.
“The officials of the public bodies should be more accountable to move towards maintaining financial discipline by eliminating arrears,” he said. President Paudel expressed his confidence that the country’s aspirations for stability, peace, good governance, development and prosperity would be fulfilled if economic discipline is maintained by discouraging wasteful expenditure.
The Head of the State also expressed confidence that the contents of the report would inspire the relevant bodies and stakeholders to be more accountable.
President Paudel emphasized that while the role of the Office of the Auditor General will be important in maintaining fiscal discipline, accountability, transparency while reducing financial irregularities, the office should be more active towards enhancing institutional capacity, professional interest and maintaining internal governance in the future.
