Kathmandu : The ‘Nepal Rastra Bank (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083’ has been tabled at the House of Representatives (HoR).
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle presented the bill in today’s meeting of the Lower House.
On the occasion, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal shared that no information of protest had been received regarding the proposal to seek permission to present the bill.
The House had unanimously approved the proposal seeking permission to present the bill put forward by the Finance Minister.
Presenting the bill, Finance Minister Wagle argued that the bill was introduced realizing legal reforms to maintain price and balance of payment (BoP) stability and strengthen the overall financial sector, aiming at leveraging sustainable development of Nepal’s economy.
“Considering changes in national and international financial landscapes, the expansion of the financial system, the use of digital systems, and the developments in the role of the central bank, it is necessary to clarify and update some provisions of the existing Act,” he said.
Meanwhile, the HoR has sent the ‘Film Bill, 2082’ that was originated in the National Assembly for clause-wise discussion.
The bill presented by Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina in today’s HoR meeting seeking to send it to the concerned committee for clause-wise discussion was unanimously approved.
Next meeting of the HoR will take place at 11.00 am on June 11.
