Kathmandu, August 28: The United States has begun delivering emergency relief supplies to communities affected by the recent flooding in Nepal, in coordination with the Government of Nepal.
U.S. Embassy Nepal said Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom today dispatched the first shipment of emergency supplies from the United States for flood-affected Nepalis. The assistance is being provided in response to the needs identified by the Government of Nepal.
Through Catholic Relief Services (CRS), working with its implementing partner Caritas Nepal, the first shipment includes more than 2.5 metric tons of food supplies, 500 blankets, 500 mosquito nets and 500 insulating foam sheets to support temporary shelter needs.
The supplies will be delivered to two school locations in Rasuwa, where they are expected to assist communities affected by the flooding.
The U.S. Embassy said it is closely coordinating with the Government of Nepal, CRS and Caritas Nepal to prepare and deliver additional shipments based on the evolving needs of flood-affected communities.
The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nepal’s ongoing emergency response and ensuring that relief reaches people most in need.
