Kathmandu, Nepal — U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah B. Rogers delivered keynote remarks at Ascent Summit 2026, emphasizing the strong and growing relationship between the United States and Nepal through entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic cooperation. She was joined by Sumnima Udas, Chair of Parliament’s International Relations Committee.

The summit brought together more than 1,400 climbers, expedition leaders, innovators, outdoor industry representatives, and tourism stakeholders to discuss how Nepal’s rich mountaineering heritage and American innovation can contribute to safer expeditions and a stronger adventure tourism sector.

In her keynote address, Rogers highlighted the role of American expertise and products—including high-quality outdoor equipment and advanced communication technologies designed for extreme mountain environments—in supporting Nepal’s tourism economy and creating new opportunities for U.S. businesses.

The event underscored the continued commitment of both nations to fostering innovation, strengthening economic growth, and enhancing Nepal’s position as a leading global destination for adventure tourism.

Ascent Summit 2026 served as a platform for collaboration, bringing together key voices from the mountaineering, tourism, technology, and business communities to explore the future of adventure travel and mountain safety.
