Kathmandu, May 31: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has reminded government’s commitment to resolving border issues with India through diplomatic channel.

In response to lawmakers’ queries in the House of Representatives meeting today, PM Shah informed that government would sort out problems through dialogues. “Efforts are made to resolve issues with the involvement of experts and historians in relation to Nepal-India border,” he said, adding that Nepal could also talk to British government on it.

According to PM, the government has already sent a diplomatic note officially to India regarding the use of Nepali territory- Lipulek, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani. In response to the note, both governments have agreed to settle issues through the talks involving historians, surveyors and persons with knowledge of respective lands. “On it, we’ve not only talked to India and China but also to British government,” he shared.

“The problem of border kept lingering since the time British India left India, so we believe even the UK government should pay heed to it. All these things require resolution via diplomatic efforts,” the PM reminded.
Earlier, CPN UML lawmaker Padma Aryal had raised question over a trade route opened by India and China via Nepali territory. She sought response from the PM.

Similarly, in response to NC lawmaker Arjun Narsing KC, PM Shah said government would study and implement all sorts of investigation reports including that of the National Human Rights Commission. All reports submitted so far to government over various movements/incidents would be studied and action taken accordingly, he added.

The PM further said government would accept most of suggestions from lawmakers.
